About

Jan and Wendy have performed together many times with their delightful combination of poetry and guitar. They have played at numerous venues in the South West and Beaminster and Cheltenham Festivals. Jan performs a diverse selection of poetry, both humorous and thought provoking, ranging from Carol Ann Duffy to Wendy Cope and Thomas Hardy to Roger McGough, all hugely enjoyable.

Jan has enjoyed a very active career as an actress and wordsmith in conjunction with teaching classical ballet and piano.  Acting roles with Churchill Productions include Miss Shepherd in Lady in the Van by Alan Bennett, Susan in Bed Among the Lentils, also by Alan Bennett and all female characters in Two by Jim Cartwright.

Wendy began studying with the lutenist Robert Spencer and was later a student at the Royal Academy of Music. She has performed as a soloist, accompanist and ensemble player in many concerts throughout the British Isles and has provided music for the theatre and for several television documentaries. More recently, Wendy enjoys playing with several small chamber ensembles and with her sister Linda in their duo ‘Hot Flush’.

The evening will include solos of music by Villa Lobos and Maximo Diego Pujol.

Linda loves jazz and folk and many contemporary songwriters and has always sung whenever she has had the opportunity. She works hard at finding songs that are a little different and evocative and these are the ones that she and Wendy most enjoy performing.

Wendy and Linda perform an eclectic mix of music, from Beth Nielsen-Chapman to Janis Ian, from Peggy Lee to James Taylor and more.

All profits will be shared with the Victoria Hall to aid their fundraising for regerenation projects.
