Le Concert- Magic Lantern Film Club 2nd April 7 pm

Le Concert is a 2009 Russian/French comedy-drama film by Radu Mihăileanu, starring Aleksei Guskov, Mélanie Laurent and Miou-Miou. It won the Best Original Score and Best Sound awards at César Awards 2010. It was also nominated for two Magritte Awards in the category of Best Film in Coproduction and Best Editing for Ludo Troch in 2011, and Best Foreign Film at the 68th Golden Globe Awards.

Many years ago, Andrei Simoniovich Filipov (Aleksei Guskov) was fired as conductor of the Bolshoi Orchestra for hiring Jewish musicians. Now a janitor, he learns that members of the orchestra have been invited to perform in Paris. Andrei gathers his former players and plans to substitute them for the current ones, and he hopes that a beautiful virtuoso (Mélanie Laurent) will accompany them.
